About Us
Where We Started

About Us

After graduating from my 8th-grade Amish education, I went straight into full-time work doing general exterior construction. Those first years taught me discipline, skill, and what real craftsmanship looks like. By the time I was 19, I knew I had mastered the trade well enough to build something of my own - so I started Allphase Exteriors, which focused on all kinds of general construction. In 2024 I purchased my first gutter machine and I just knew this was my niche and that’s when APX Seamless Gutters was born.

Soon after, I began subcontracting for some of the biggest national brands in the business. Working behind the scenes for those companies taught me a lot - especially what homeowners were being charged, what subcontractors were being paid, and how the customer experience often suffered in the middle.

It didn't take long for me to realize something important: with a leaner office, better communication, quality materials, and a better level of craftsmanship, I could give homeowners a much more personalized experience at a far better price. Without the middleman, I could do it while actually earning what my work was worth, and without charging our customers exorbitant rates.

That realization became the foundation of APX Seamless Gutters. We focus on keeping things simple, honest, and seamless - from your first call to the moment the job is completed. Just quality work, fair pricing, and someone that truly cares about the final result.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Not sure what your home needs? These are the most common gutter questions we get from homeowners—so you can make the right call before getting a quote.

How much do new gutters cost in Ohio?

Gutter installation in Northeast Ohio typically ranges from $8–$28 per foot depending on your home size, gutter size (5” vs 6”), material, and whether you choose seamless gutters; as well as how many stories your house is, if you upgrade and add a gutter guard system, if you need fascia replaced, or old gutter removed. Most homeowners choose seamless aluminum for durability and low maintenance. We offer free estimates so you know exactly what to expect—no surprises.

Do I need gutters on my house in Ohio?

Yes—gutters are essential in Ohio due to frequent rain and snow. They direct water away from your foundation, siding, and landscaping. Without gutters, water runoff can cause erosion, basement leaks, and long-term structural damage.

What are seamless gutters and are they better than regular gutters?

Seamless gutters are made from one continuous piece, which reduces leaks and requires less maintenance. Traditional (sectional) gutters are pieced together and more prone to leaking over time. Most modern homes use seamless gutters for better performance. At APX Seamless Gutters, we build our seamless gutters on-site, custom fabricated to your house.

How long do aluminum gutters last in Ohio weather?

Aluminum gutters typically last 20–30 years, even with Ohio’s changing weather conditions. Proper installation and regular maintenance can help extend their lifespan and keep them performing properly. At APX Seamless Gutters, we offer a 5-year workmanship warranty that backs our quality installation.

What size gutters do I need? (5” vs 6”)

Most homes use 5-inch gutters, but 6-inch gutters are recommended for larger roofs or homes that handle heavy rainfall. The right size depends on your roof size, pitch, and how much water needs to be managed. When we provide you with your free estimate, we can assess your roof size and pitch to determine the best fit.

How often should gutters be cleaned?

Most homes should have gutters cleaned at least twice a year—typically in the spring and fall. If you have a lot of trees nearby, you may need more frequent cleanings to prevent clogs and overflow.

What happens if you don’t clean your gutters?

If gutters aren’t cleaned, they can clog with leaves and debris, causing water to overflow. This can lead to foundation damage, roof leaks, siding stains, and basement flooding. Over time, the added weight can also cause gutters to sag or pull away from your home.

Why are my gutters overflowing during heavy rain?

Gutters usually overflow due to clogs, improper slope, or gutters that are too small. In Ohio, heavy rain can overwhelm undersized or blocked gutters quickly, leading to water spilling over and causing damage to your home.

Do gutter guards work for leaves and debris?

Yes, gutter guards help reduce the amount of leaves and debris that enter your gutters. While they don’t eliminate maintenance completely, they significantly reduce cleaning frequency—especially for homes with nearby trees. At APX Seamless Gutters, we offer Leaf Patrol and Alu-Rex T-Rex Premium Gutter Guard Systems.

Can clogged gutters cause roof damage?

Yes—clogged gutters can cause water to back up under your shingles, leading to roof leaks, wood rot, and fascia damage. In colder climates like Ohio, clogged gutters can also contribute to ice dams, which can cause serious roof issues.

How do I know if I need new gutters or just a repair?

Signs you may need new gutters include sagging, leaks, rust, cracks, or water pooling near your foundation. If your gutters require frequent repairs, replacement is usually the more cost-effective long-term solution. We can assess the level of damage and make a professional recommendation for the best course of action when we provide you with your free estimate.

How far should downspouts drain away from the house?

Ideally, downspouts should extend at least far enough away from your foundation to properly direct water away from your home. In areas with heavy rain or poor drainage (common in Ohio), extending them even further or using underground drain lines can help prevent water from pooling around your foundation.

Are gutters required by building code in Ohio?

Gutters are not always required by building code, but many homes in Ohio either require them or strongly benefit from them due to rainfall and drainage needs. Even when not required, installing gutters is one of the best ways to protect your home from water damage.

What is the best material for gutters (aluminum vs copper vs steel)?

Aluminum gutters are the most popular choice because they are affordable, rust-resistant, and long-lasting. Copper gutters offer a premium look and can last longer but are significantly more expensive. Steel gutters are very strong but can rust over time if not properly maintained. For most homeowners, seamless aluminum gutters provide the best balance of cost and durability.

Will gutters help prevent basement flooding?

Gutters play a major role in preventing basement flooding by directing water away from your home’s foundation. Without properly working gutters and downspouts, water can pool near your foundation and eventually seep into your basement.

Why are my gutters sagging or pulling away from the house?

Sagging gutters are usually caused by loose fasteners, excess debris weight, or improper installation. Over time, this can prevent proper drainage and lead to water damage. If caught early, repairs may fix the issue—but severely sagging gutters often need to be replaced.

Working with APX was a great experience all around. Service was booked quickly, better price point than some of "the bigger guys", lots of colors to choose from and the gutters were made right at the house the same day as install. Two different styles of gutter guard to choose from. The owner/crew were professional and personable and there was no lollygagging to get it done.
